Uwe Rosler: 'Rob Kelly will be a big influence at Leeds United'

Leeds United coach Uwe Rosler believes that new assistant manager Rob Kelly will have an influential role to play at the club following his appointment on a two-year deal.

Leeds United coach Uwe Rosler has talked up the potential influence of new assistant manager Rob Kelly.

The 50-year-old former West Bromwich Albion coach has agreed a two-year deal at Elland Road and will work alongside Rosler, who was brought in to replace Neil Redfearn early in May.

"I felt that it would be very good to have such an experienced coach like Rob next to me. He knows this league in and out and he knows the players in and out. He's good on the training field," said Rosler in a statement on the club's website.

"I was always looking to bring in somebody experienced who has worked at this level for quite some time - I think that Rob is a very good option. We have known each other for a while and I think it's a good option for everybody involved.

"He's the second man in command. He will be influential in the day-to-day running of our team in terms of training sessions."

Kelly has also spent time in senior positions at clubs including Leicester City, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday.
