Queens Park Rangers travel to Charlton Athletic on opening day

Relegated Queens Park Rangers will travel to Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the Championship season, which begins on Saturday, August 8.

Queens Park Rangers have been handed an away fixture at Charlton Athletic on the opening day of the new Championship season.

The Hoops suffered relegation from the Premier League last month, and Chris Ramsey's side will start the campaign with a tricky trip to South London as they look to secure an immediate return to the top flight.

Hull City will open at home against Huddersfield Town on August 8, while Burnley face a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

Last season's playoff runners-up Middlesbrough travel to newly-promoted Preston North End, while League One champions Bristol City make the trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

MK Dons begin their first season as a Championship side away at Rotherham United.

Derby County, under the new management of Paul Clement, will travel to Bolton Wanderers, while their East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest will make the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The first meeting between Derby and Forest takes place on November 7, with the return fixture being played at the iPro Stadium on March 19.

The stand-out encounter on the final day of the season sees Derby take on Ipswich Town, with both sides potentially being involved in the hunt for promotion.
