Leeds United fans call for Massimo Cellino to sell his stake in the club

Leeds United Supporters' Trust urges owner Massimo Cellino to consider selling his stake in the club after being banned from his duties by the Football League.

Leeds United Supporters' Trust has called on owner Massimo Cellino to sell his controlling stake in the club following his ban by the Football League.

The Italian was disqualified from his duties by the governing body of league football in relation to his conviction on a tax offence in Sardinia.

It is the second time Cellino has been banned from his duties by the Football League, but he has revealed that he will appeal the sanction.

However, LUST has urged him along with minority shareholder Gulf Finance House to consider selling the club.

They said in a statement: "The Trust believes Leeds supporters have suffered enough over the years and therefore asks Massimo Cellino brings clarity and honesty to any public statements on the immediate future and consider the supporters' need for a stable club at all times in how he deals with his latest ban.

"If, and the case grows daily, it is in the best interests of Leeds United supporters he and GFH should sell, we call on them both to do so with efficiency."

Cellino sacked manager Uwe Rosler on Monday and replaced him with Steve Evans, the sixth head coach in the Italian's tenure at the club.
