Team News: Matt Smith starts up front for Leeds United

Leeds United manager Brian McDermott has handed Matt Smith his first start in tonight's Capital One Cup first-round tie at home against Chesterfield.

The 24-year-old striker, who made a name for himself by scoring against Liverpool and Everton in Oldham Athletic's FA Cup run last season, will partner Dom Poleon in attack at Elland Road.

Meanwhile, teenage midfielder Alex Mowatt has been named on the bench, alongside Luke Varney and Ross McCormack.

Jay O'Shea and Marc Richards, who scored in the weekend win over Bury, have to settle for a place on the bench, while summer signing Eoin Doyle will lead the line for the League two outfit.
