Miroslav Klose confirms that he could have joined Barcelona instead of Bayern Munich from Werder Bremen back in 2007.

Lazio striker Miroslav Klose has confirmed that he could have joined Barcelona from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2011.

The Germany international affirmed his agent Alexander Schutt's revelation earlier this week about the 34-year-old having the chance to join the Catalan giants instead of Bayern Munich that year.

"The possibility of joining Barca is now far away, but I came very close in 2007," he told El Mundo Deportivo. "I would love to play for Barcelona because they are definitely one of the best teams in the world.

"Certainly it would have been great, because football is played there as I like it. But as I said, that is in the past.

"And I ended up going to Bayern. It was a good decision, because as I said, I learned a lot."

Klose has scored 10 goals in 20 Serie A games so far this season.
