Lazio fined €40,000 for improper conduct of fans against Spurs

Lazio have been fined €40,000 (£32,500) by UEFA for the improper conduct of their fans against Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Spurs players including Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend were allegedly subjected to monkey chants during the 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane in the Europa League.

The Italian club can appeal the ruling "within three days of the dispatch of the reasoned decision".

UEFA opened their investigation 24 hours after the game on September 21.
