Late Juninho Quixada strike sends Lazio out

Late Quixada strike sends Lazio out

Lazio have been knocked out of the Europa League after Juninho Quixada struck a late winner to seal a 4-3 aggregate victory for Ludogorets Razgrad on a dramatic night in Bulgaria.

Miroslav Klose's 81st-minute strike looked to have done enough to send the Rome-based outfit through to the last 16 on away goals, only for Quixada to strike in the closing stages to snatch the win for the hosts.

The Biancocelesti, who were trailing 1-0 on aggregate from the first leg, levelled the tie in the first minute through youngster Balde Keita.

Brayan Perea struck a second for the visitors nine minutes after the restart to put the Serie A outfit in control of the tie with two away goals.

Nevertheless, the Bulgarian side rallied and went ahead in the tie by making it 2-2 on the night, with Roman Bezjak reducing the deficit before Hristo Zlatinski drew level with 12 minutes remaining.

However, the pendulum swung the way of the Romans three minutes later as Klose fired Edoardo Reja's men ahead on away goals, but there was yet more drama as Quixada pounced in the dying embers of normal time to seal a dramatic triumph for Razgrad.
