Vladimir Petkovic critical of Lazio fans

Lazio manager Vladimir Petkovic has criticised the club's supporters for failing to turn out in force for last night's Europa League opener against Legia Warsaw.

The Aquile ground out a 1-0 win over Warsaw to start their European campaign with a victory at the Olimpico, thanks to a header from Hernanes.

Petkovic has declared that his side deserved a bigger crowd for the match, which was played with just 11,769 spectators present.

He told Sky Sport Italia: "Winning a game with the mind more than the quality of our play is very important, as during a season you must learn to hang on tight under pressure to grind out a result.

"It's certainly good to keep two consecutive clean sheets. I was not worried when we made certain individual errors against Juventus, as aside from those meetings we conceded one goal in four games.

"It was a shame that there were so few people today, as the team deserves a bigger crowd for its Europa League debut."

Lazio are sure to have a bigger crowd at the Olimpico this weekend, when they take on Roma in the season's first clash between bitter rivals in the Italian capital.
