David Beckham has admitted that he is "sad" to leave Los Angeles Galaxy.

The midfielder ended his five-and-half-year tenure at the American club on Saturday when he helped them win the MLS Cup with a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo in the final.

"I am sad that this is the end," BBC Sport quotes the 37-year-old as saying. "This is a very special place for me and it will continue to be.

"I am happy to have been part of this club for six years and I am grateful to have been successful for the last four years.

"I may not play here anymore but I remain just as committed to growing this club, this league and this sport."

Beckham won the MLS Cup last year with Galaxy too.
