Sunday's Major League Soccer predictions including LA Galaxy vs. San Diego

Portland vs. Vancouver (Sunday, 9.00pm)

In the first Cascadia Cup clash of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) campaign, the Portland Timbers welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to Providence Park on Sunday.

These teams previously met in the Western Conference wild-card round last year, with the Caps claiming a convincing 5-0 triumph on that occasion.

We say: Portland Timbers 2-2 Vancouver Whitecaps

Both teams are primarily attack-oriented units, and we expect to see them showcase that on Sunday, with plenty of individual quality shining through.

LA Galaxy vs. San Diego (Monday, 12.00am)

Playing in the first regular season encounter in club history, San Diego will travel to Dignity Health Sports Park for a date with the reigning MLS Cup champions, the Los Angeles Galaxy, on Sunday.

Last season, the Galaxy claimed their sixth league title by defeating the New York Red Bulls 2-1, with San Diego winning their last pre-season affair in convincing fashion, 6-0 over the same side.

We say: Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 San Diego

While many expansion sides have had early success in the past, there are many questions about who can be that number nine in San Diego, and they may be in for a hard lesson on Sunday.

Even without Puig at their disposal, the Galaxy have plenty of talent to call upon, and we expect them to make a strong early statement.
