Beckham to bring Olympic torch to UK

David Beckham will bring the famous Olympic torch from Greece over to the UK, London 2012 organisers have announced.

The LA Galaxy star will transport the flame to Britain, accompanied by Princess Anne and other officials on a flight this Friday (May 18).

Beckham is widely tipped to compete in the games as part of Stuart Pearce's Team GB squad, which will feature three players over the age of 23.

The Olympic torch will begin an 8,000-mile tour across England when it touches down on these shores, travelling from Cornwall to the Shetland Islands in a 70-day relay.

Beckham was part of the delegation that helped to secure the Olympic Games for London.
