Ronaldo becomes joint-highest scorer in football history

Cristiano Ronaldo is now the joint-highest goalscorer in professional football history following his latest strike for Juventus on Sunday evening.

The Portugal international netted late on to seal a 3-1 victory over Sassuolo, taking his goals tally for club and country to 759.

Former Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Ronaldo is now level with Josef Bican as the sport's all-time top scorer.

Bican represented the likes of Rapid Vienna, Slavia Prague and Dynamo Prague during his playing days, as well as Austria and Czechoslovakia at international level, before retiring in 1955.

Brazil and Santos great Pele argues that he scored 1,283 goals during his illustrious career, but many of those were not in official matches.

Ronaldo also leads the way at the top of the Serie A scoring charts this term, with his 15 goals placing him three ahead of Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.
