Paul Pogba 'tried to pay blackmailers £11m'

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba reportedly tried to pay blackmailers £11m after being approached by an armed gang.

The 29-year-old has recently alleged that his brother Mathias Pogba is part of a "group-organised extortion attempt" against him.

French police are currently investigating the allegations after Paul Pogba claimed his brother and childhood friends are responsible for the blackmail attempt.

According to The Mirror, via France Info, the former Manchester United player was told by hooded armed men to hand over €13million (£11m).

However, Pogba's bank blocked the withdrawal, and instead, he handed over €100,000 (£85,000) after being taken to a flat at gunpoint in Paris.

Following the £85,000 handover, the France international continued to be threatened by the gang before he filed a criminal complaint.

Pogba has also alleged that the gang followed him to Manchester and Turin, where he told police that he recognised his brother Mathias as one of the suspects.
