Player Ratings: Juventus 2-0 Malmo

Juventus 2-0 Malmo

Juventus began their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Malmo in Turin.

Carlos Tevez gave the hosts the lead just before the hour mark and sealed the victory with a free kick late on.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during the 90 minutes.

JUVENTUS

Goal

Gianluigi Buffon: Only had one save to make all evening, but it was an outstanding stop from point-blank range to deny Eriksson. Dealt well with crosses into his box and was reliable throughout as always. (7/10)

Defence

Giorgio Chiellini: Solid display from the Italian who didn't put a foot wrong. Further underlined his standing as one of Europe's best defenders. (7/10)

Martin Caceres: Had little to do, but again did nothing wrong as his team allowed just one shot on goal. Helped to make sure that Rosenberg and Thelin caused little threat. (6/10)

Leonardo Bonucci: Comfortable night at the back along with his defensive partners. Cleared everything that came his way and even had a couple of strikes on goal in the first half. (7/10)

Midfield

Paul Pogba: Was not at his absolute best, but ran the midfield and caused problems for the opposition with his pace and power. (7/10)

Claudio Marchisio: Kept the midfield ticking over alongside Pogba. Didn't get forward as much as he would have liked, but was strong in the challenge all evening. (6/10)

Patrice Evra: Delivered some fine balls into the box and got forward well all evening. Was rarely beaten down his flank in what was a lively display. (7/10)

Kwando Asamoah: Set up the first goal for Tevez with an outstanding backheel. Was one of his team's biggest threats and constantly looked to test the Malmo keeper from range. (7/10)

Stephan Lichtsteiner: Energetic performance as ever from the Swiss international. Constantly got up and down the right wing all evening and whipped some fantastic deliveries into the box. (7/10)

Attack

Carlos Tevez: Inspirational showing from the Argentine international. Took both of his goals extremely well and was the difference between the two sides. (8/10)

Fernando Llorente: Struggled to impress despite having a number of decent chances. Could find it hard to keep his place in the starting lineup with Morata back from injury. (6/10)

Substitutes

Alvaro Morata: Came on for the closing stages and won the free kick from which Tevez scored. (6/10)

Sebastian Giovinco: Was introduced in stoppage time and could not make an impact on the match. (6/10)

Romulo: Arrived at the same time as Giovinco and also had little opportunity to impress. (6/10)

MALMO

Goal

Robin Olsen: Decent showing from the keeper who made some important saves. Could not have done much about Tevez's goals, which were expertly taken by the striker. (6/10)

Defence

Anton Tinnerholm: Had a tough night on the right and struggled against Evra. He allowed the Frenchman to get in behind him far too often. (6/10) Filip Helander: Managed to keep Llorente quiet all evening, but picked up a booking for a foul on Morata late on that led to the second goal. (6/10)

Markus Halsti: Solid at the back for most of the night, but allowed Tevez to get away from him to score the opening goal. (6/10)

Erik Johansson: Decent showing from the Swedish international, but like his defensive partner Halsti, he was caught out for the home side's first goal. (6/10)

Pa Momodou Konate: Along with Tinnerholm, he was left exposed on his wing. He was given a torrid evening by Lichtsteiner, who constantly beat him for pace. (5/10)

Midfield

Magnus Eriksson: Had a great chance to score in the first half, but was denied by Buffon. Was one of his side's best players on the evening and used the ball well. (7/10)

Enoch Adu: Decent showing from the Ghanaian as his side frustrated the Juventus midfield for long spells. (6/10)

Emil Forsberg: Was solid just like his fellow midfielders and worked hard throughout. (6/10)

Attack

Markus Rosenberg: He was unable to test Buffon, but did supply the cross that Eriksson almost scored from. Came off shortly after half time. (6/10)

Isaac Kiese Thelin: Found it hard to get into the match against a strong Juventus defence in what was a frustrating night for the striker. (6/10)

Substitutes

Erdal Rakip: Struggled to impose himself on the game after replacing Eriksson. (6/10)

Agon Mehmeti: Came on for Rosenberg, but did not cause the Juventus defence any problems. (6/10)

Simon Kron: Was introduced with 17 minutes left to play, but could not make an impact. (6/10)
