Ipswich Town 'fail' with attempt to loan Wolves striker Kevin Doyle

Ipswich 'fail' with Doyle loan bid

Mick McCarthy's attempts to link up with Kevin Doyle for a second time in his career appear to have failed after a loan bid for the Wolverhampton Wanderers man was reportedly rejected.

Ipswich Town boss McCarthy, who signed Doyle for Wolves back in 2009, is believed to be after another striking option as the Blues look to make a run at the Championship playoffs in the second half of the season.

According to the Ipswich Star, McCarthy wanted Doyle on loan until the end of the season but Wolves have knocked back their attempts.

The Republic of Ireland international has scored just three goals in 23 League One appearances this season.

McCarthy already has former Wolves players Christophe Berra, Frank Nouble, Stephen Hunt and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake in his Ipswich squad.
