Ipswich Town midfielder Anthony Wordsworth admits his relief after returning to action in the 2-1 defeat to Hull City at the weekend.

Ipswich Town midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has admitted his delight after making his comeback in the 2-1 defeat to Hull City at the weekend.

The 24-year-old, who broke his back earlier this year, has also revealed that he struggled to come to terms with the intensity on his return to first-team action.

"I didn't realise how serious it was until I got to the hospital and they told me I had broken my back," he told BBC Sport.

"It wasn't very nice, but luckily I'm back playing. I'm still a long way off from where I want to be.

"It was clear to see I was struggling with my fitness. I only played 45 minutes but it was difficult."

Ipswich sit 17th in the Championship table.
