Mick McCarthy: 'Late Ipswich Town leveller a boost for derby against Norwich'

Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy says that Christophe Berra's late equaliser at Birmingham will make a "huge difference" as they prepare for the local derby against Norwich.

Christophe Berra's late equaliser against Birmingham City last night will give Ipswich Town a "huge" boost for this weekend's local derby against Norwich City, Mick McCarthy has said.

McCarthy saw his Ipswich side twice come from behind at St Andrew's last night to earn a 2-2 draw, with centre-back Berra netting both goals and earning the Tractor Boys a point in the 94th minute.

The Suffolk side now host arch rivals Norwich City for the first time in over three years on Saturday lunchtime.

On Berra's goal, McCarthy told the East Anglian Daily Times: "It's a huge difference to travelling back on the coach, a huge difference to how you approach training tomorrow and it just creates a different atmosphere having something."

The last time Ipswich and Norwich were in the same league the Canaries won by an aggregate score of 9-2 over the two games.
