Brett Pitman injury "not too serious"

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy has confirmed that the foot injury suffered by striker Brett Pitman is "not too serious".

The summer signing from Bournemouth picked up the complaint during last night's 3-2 pre-season victory over Cambridge United - a game in which he opened the scoring for the Championship club.

"It's not too serious, just a bit of bruising," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"He had ice on his foot and he said he was fine, but as soon as the second half kicked off we could tell he wasn't fine so we took him off as a precaution. Thankfully it's nothing serious and he's fine."

McCarthy also revealed that Jonathan Parr and Daryl Murphy, both of whom missed the Cambridge match, are due to feature against Peterborough United at the weekend.
