Preview: Inter Milan vs. Fiorentina

Inter Milan play host to Fiorentina on Sunday hoping to extend a run that has seen them win four of their last five games.

Even after the arrival of former boss Roberto Mancini, the Nerazzurri have struggled for consistency this season, but there are finally signs that a talented squad are ready to meet their potential.

Monday's 2-1 victory against Cagliari sees Inter now sit eighth in the standings, just four points off Fiorentina in fifth, while they have also progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League.

Samir Handanovic will return in goal for Inter, but Mancini has a number of options if he wants to continue to rotate the rest of his team, with Lukas Podolski potentially being involved after missing out in midweek.

Fiorentina travel to San Siro possessing an unbeaten Serie A record that stretches seven games, but boss Vincenzo Montella will be aware that they could end the day under pressure without a result against Inter.

Viola will be targeting a fourth-place finish in the table, but with a number of teams lining up behind them, including Inter, they will be wary of getting dragged into a tighter battle for a European spot.

Winger Mohamed Salah, who is on loan from Chelsea, is pushing for a second league start after netting three times in his last four appearances in all competitions.

However, Micah Richards is likely to find himself on the bench, despite helping his side record a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.
