Spalletti pleased with Inter performance

Inter Milan head coach Luciano Spalletti has praised his side's performance in the derby against AC Milan but admits that "three points would have meant a lot".

The Nerazzurri were held to a 0-0 draw in Wednesday evening's rescheduled Serie A match, though Mauro Icardi missed two open-goal opportunities and had a goal ruled out by VAR.

"I feel good," Spalletti told Premium Sport at full time. "The team played a good game where they showed they know what to do, that's the nice thing. The result comes after.

"We played a good game and we have to do that in the remaining fixtures while having the right ruthlessness. If not we'll go back to people talking about technical ability and there will be another pandemonium.

"I've been critical in the past, saying we didn't play well, but now I see a strong Inter and I'm confident for the future. I'm happy with what they're doing on the pitch, because right now that's beyond reproach.

"There's nothing we can do (about Icardi's misses), it's disappointing because the three points would have meant a lot. Nothing changes for us, we've picked up a point on the others and Milan are still eight points behind, even if they're still in the fight."

The result keeps Inter fourth in the table, two points clear of fifth-placed Lazio.
