Gary Medel hoping to make start of season

New Inter Milan midfielder Gary Medel is hopeful that he will be fit for the start of the Serie A season.

The Chilean international made the switch to the Serie A club from Cardiff City at the weekend, but has been struggling with a leg injury that he picked up at this summer's World Cup.

"In pre-season, I have not worked a lot because of a leg injury," he told reporters in Italy.

"But I am hoping to be ready in time for the start of the new season. I'm glad to be here. Forze Inter!"

Medel moved to Inter for a fee in the region of £9m.
