Ronny Deila: 'I'm proud of players despite defeat to Inter Milan'

Deila: 'I'm proud of players'

Celtic coach Ronny Deila has praised his players despite their exit from the Europa League at the hands of Inter Milan.

The Scottish club exited at the last-32 stage of the tournament following a 4-3 aggregate defeat, having produced two resolute displays both home and away against Roberto Mancini's men.

"I think it's a very disappointed gang of players in the dressing room. I feel very sorry for them, but I'm very proud of them," he said, according to insidefutbol.com.

"We made a good performance for 90 minutes. When it was eleven vs eleven we controlled the game and we got more into it, so it's tough.

"It just has to give us more motivation now to get back on this stage. I think we showed now we have something to do here."

Celtic also had to contest with having only 10 men for much of their second-leg encounter, with Virgil van Dijk sent off following two yellow cards.
