Huddersfield bid to sign Montpellier striker?

Huddersfield Town have reportedly made an £11.5m bid to try to sign Montpellier HSC striker Steve Mounie.

Since they secured promotion to the Premier League, Huddersfield have been linked with numerous players as they look to strengthen their squad and it appears that head coach David Wagner is open to spending big in the transfer market.

According to the Daily Mail, Wagner is willing to break the club's transfer record to beat a whole host of teams to the signing of Mounie.

West Bromwich Albion, Watford and Fulham have all been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old, but it has been claimed that Huddersfield are ready to see off their competition.

Last season, Mounie netted 14 times in 35 appearances in France's top flight and he is expected to seal a move away from his current club this summer.

While Huddersfield spent the most recent campaign inside the top six, top goalscorer Elias Kachunga only netted 12 goals in the second tier.
