Chris Powell appointed Huddersfield Town manager

Huddersfield Town confirm the appointment of Chris Powell as the club's new manager on a rolling contract.

Huddersfield Town have confirmed the appointment of Chris Powell as the club's new manager.

The Championship team had been without a boss following Mark Robins's dismissal just 24 hours after their opening-day defeat to Bournemouth.

Powell has signed a rolling contract with the Terriers, who are currently in 21st place in the table.

The 44-year-old's last role in management was with Charlton Athletic, where he was sacked in March 2014 after a three-year spell in charge.

"We're delighted to be able to welcome Chris to Huddersfield Town as the new manager," chairman Dean Hoyle told the club's official website.

"We've taken our time over this appointment, as we wanted to give ourselves time to put in the groundwork and ensure we get the right man for the job. We believe we have in Chris."

Powell will take charge of Huddersfield for the first time on September 13 when they entertain Middlesbrough in the Championship.
