Hoffenheim grant Sigurdsson English move

German side Hoffenheim have revealed that they have accepted Gylfi Sigurdsson's wish to join a Premier League club.

The Icelandic midfielder is said to be keen on a permanent switch to England following a largely successful six-month loan spell with Swansea City which ended in May.

Liverpool, who are now managed by former Swans boss Brendan Rodgers, are believed to be firm favourites for 22-year-old's signature and his current club have admitted defeat in their bid to keep the attacking midfielder.

"Gylfi Sigurdsson will not be with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim for the start of pre-season. He has, after consultation, obtained a prolonged holiday until June 30," read a statement from the club.

"The club wants the 22-year-old to continue to secure a future in the Premier League."

Sigurdsson has previous experience of English football with Reading.
