Hoffenheim part company with Gisdol

Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim have sacked Markus Gisdol and replaced him with Huub Stevens.

The club have taken the decision following a run of results that has seen the team collect six points from their first 10 fixtures, leaving them second from bottom in the table.

"It wasn't an easy decision. We showed patience and had trust in Markus's work," sporting director Alexander Rosen said in a statement.

"We were immediately impressed by our initial discussions and are convinced that Huub Stevens is the right solution."

Sixty-one-year-old Stevens, who won the UEFA Cup with Schalke 04 in 1997, has signed a contract that will run until the end of the campaign.
