Heerenveen ease to win at FC Twente

Heerenveen score four as they earn a 4-1 victory away to FC Twente in the Eredivisie.

Heerenveen put four goals past FC Twente in a 4-1 victory at De Grolsch Veste in the Eredivisie.

Heerenveen took the lead after Caner Cavlan hit the post with a strike from the edge of the box and Luciano Slagveer calmly slotted away the rebound from 12 yards out.

Twente had the chance to reply quickly after they were awarded a penalty after Lucas Bijker shoved over Thomas Agyepong in the box, but Hakim Ziyech missed the target depsite sending the Heerenveen goalkeeper Erwin Mulder the wrong way.

A good counter-attack run from Cavlan led to the midfielder putting through Mitchell te Vrede, who fired it low but straight at Joel Drommel in the Twente goal.

Kenny Otigba put the away side 2-0 up on 40 minutes after a deep free kick was not dealt with by the 18-year-old Twente goalkeeper and the ball fell at the defender's feet, who simply tapped the ball into an open goal.

Ziyech made up for his earlier penalty miss in the second half as the Twente forward took aim from 30 yards out and rifled the ball into the top corner to pull a goal back for the home side.

However, Heerenveen made it three moments later after a surge down the right by Sam Larsson was saved by Drommel, the rebound from Slagveer was also stopped by the goalkeeper but the ball inadvertently hit Joachim Andersen and slowly rolled into the Twente goal.

Larsson completed the rout moments later as he cut inside from the left to blast the ball beyond the reach of a helpless Drommel to make it 4-1.

The win lifts Heerenveen into 10th as Twente remain a point outside the relegation playoff zone in 15th in the Eredivisie table.
