The Hearts boss was due to face allegations over his behaviour at an under-18s Edinburgh derby clash with Hibernian.

Craig Levein will have to wait to discover if he is to be punished over a Scottish Football Association misconduct charge after his Hampden hearing was adjourned.

The Hearts boss was due to face allegations over his behaviour at an under-18s Edinburgh derby clash with Hibernian.

It was claimed the 54-year-old stepped out of line during an incident at a Club Academy Scotland Elite Under-18s League game between Hearts and their city rivals last month.

The charge, which relates to Levein's role as Hearts director of football, alleges he broke disciplinary rule 207, which states "no official shall commit misconduct at a match".

The case was due to be settled on Wednesday but an SFA spokesman confirmed it did not take place. A new date has yet to be set.

Hearts won the game 3-2 at Oriam, Scotland's national sports performance centre which doubles as the club's training centre.

Levein received a two-match touchline ban from the SFA in January – one game of which was suspended until the end of the year – for criticism of match officials after a defeat by Rangers.

Meanwhile, Robbie Neilson has escaped punishment after the SFA's disciplinary panel decided a misconduct case against the Dundee United boss was not proven.

Neilson was charged after being sent to the stand by referee Alan Newlands during a clash with Partick Thistle last month.
