Groningen score six minutes into injury time to break ADO Den Haag hearts

Groningen beat Den Haag at the death

A Danny Hoesen goal six minutes into stoppage time has given Groningen a dramatic 2-1 win over ADO Den Haag in Sunday's Eredivisie clash at Euroborg.

The visitors opened the scoring on 24 minutes when Aaron Meijers powered down the left and sent a pinpoint ball into the direction of Edouard Duplan, who had the easy job of nodding past Sergio Padt.

Den Haag defender Tom Beugelsdijk then gave the opposition a route back into the game when Joshua Brenet made the most of Ludcinio Marengo's error to send a ball into the box that the 25-year-old sliced into his own net.

Just when it seemed like the points would be shared, however, Hoesen struck a late, late winner to send the home fans into a frenzy and break visiting hearts.

The result keeps Groningen in the hunt for a European place by putting them up to sixth, while Den Haag remain 14th and just four points off the relegation zone.
