Mats Hummels: "We screwed up"

Mats Hummels has admitted that Germany "screwed up" during their semi-final defeat to Italy at Euro 2012.

The Azzurri recorded a 2-1 win over the Mannschaft in Warsaw thanks to a Mario Balotelli brace in the opening 45 minutes.

Mesut Ozil pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in injury time, but it was not enough for Joachim Low's men to progress.

"We screwed up in the first half," Hummels told reporters. "Two-nil down against a team who are so tactically good is difficult."

Italy will now face defending champions Spain in Sunday's final.
