Besiktas penalised for pitch invasion

Besiktas have been ordered to play four home matches behind closed doors following crowd trouble during the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray.

Police were forced to use tear gas as a means of restraint after hundreds of fans stormed the pitch, bringing the game to a premature halt.

Besiktas manager Slaven Bilic was handed a three-match ban by the Turkish FA, and Galatasaray midfielder Felipe Melo has been ordered to serve a two-game suspension for his sending-off during the clash.

Galatasaray were leading 2-1 in the third minute of stoppage time when the match was abandoned.
