John Arne Riise wants new Fulham deal

John Arne Riise wants new Fulham deal

John Arne Riise has revealed his desire to earn a new contract with Fulham.

The 33-year-old's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, which would see him become a free agent.

However, providing that he is wanted by manager Rene Meulensteen, the full-back has insisted that he would like to remain at Craven Cottage.

"I have always been committed to the club, even when I was not playing," the London Evening Standard quotes the Norwegian as saying.

"The reason I wanted to leave is because I was not playing and I had to think of my career. I am at the age where I need to play. The Fulham board know I want to stay.

"Hopefully we can talk about a new deal because if Rene wants to keep me on, then I want to stay."

Riise joined Fulham from Serie A side Roma in the summer of 2011.
