Fulham are expected to fail with a bid for Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham.
The 27-year-old is thought to have caught the eye of Cottagers boss Martin Jol following his 13 goals for the Championship club last season.
However, the Bluebirds are unlikely to accept a £2.5m offer for the player, according to The Sun.
Whittingham joined the Welsh side from Aston Villa in 2007 for around £350,000.
