Report: Fulham target Rangers boss Mark Warburton

Fulham will target Rangers boss Mark Warburton as they continue their search for a new manager, according to a report.

Fulham have reportedly made Rangers boss Mark Warburton a candidate for their vacant manager's position.

The Cottagers have been looking for a new boss since sacking Kit Symons in November, with Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett and Reading's Steve Clarke linked with the role.

Warburton led Brentford into the Championship playoffs last season before being dismissed by the Bees after 18 months at the helm, as the club's hierarchy opted for a new management structure at Griffin Park.

The 53-year-old returned to management in June when he took charge of Rangers, and he has since led the Ibrox side to the top of the Scottish Championship and the final of the Scottish Challenge Cup.

According to BBC Sport, Warburton is a serious candidate to succeed Symons at Fulham and the club are prepared to pursue the Rangers man over the next month in a bid to lure him to Craven Cottage.

Warburton has previously played down speculation linking him with Fulham, who are currently 13th in the Championship.
