Deschamps stresses French unity

France coach Didier Deschamps has stressed the importance of unity within his squad ahead of the World Cup.

Les Bleus endured a tumultuous campaign in South Africa four years ago, as the players staged a revolt against former manager Raymond Domenech before failing to get beyond the group stage.

However, Deschamps is confident that his squad are all working together this time around.

"The most important thing is to have a spirit of unity and a winning mentality," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"When things are tough, French athletes tend to pull out great performances, but when they're favourites they have trouble living up to expectations. First and foremost, at this World Cup it's all about collective effort."

France play their first match of the tournament on Sunday when they face Honduras.
