Hugo Lloris thanks England for support

Hugo Lloris has thanked the England team and supporters for helping France pay tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks at Wembley.

The two sets of players and managers Roy Hodgson and Didier Deschamps joined to show their solidarity prior to the game, which England won 2-0 thanks to goals from Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney.

Despite struggling to produce their best just days after the attacks shocked the French capital, Lloris believes that simply travelling to Wembley was more important than the result.

"We want to thank the English people in the stadium for their respect," the France captain told ITV.

"Our performance lacked aggression and concentration but [the game] was a big moment. It was more about showing solidarity and support because sport and football is important. Life is still going on."

Despite the match taking place in Wembley, the friendly between Belgium and Spain had earlier been scrapped due to security concerns, while Germany's match against Netherlands was cancelled after Hannover police found explosives outside the ground on Tuesday evening.
