Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes that the decision to punish several French internationals, including stripping their Euro 2012 bonuses, might not be a bad thing.
The French football federation decided not to award Samir Nasri, Jeremy Menez, Haten Ben Arfra and Yann M'Vila their reported £100,000 bonuses, due to the role they played in disciplinary problems in Poland and Ukraine.
Nasri and Menez were also banned from future France internationals, but Giroud thinks the punishments will show future generations what is right and wrong.
"The penalty was handed out and I was not aware of it," he told RMC.
"It's not a disaster. If it raises awareness about things you can and cannot do, then that might be a good thing."
Giroud has nine caps for France, scoring one goal. He joined Arsenal in a £10m deal after finishing as top scorer in Ligue 1 last season.
