Rod Fanni "freaked out" at France recall

Marseille defender Rod Fanni has admitted that he was surprised to be called up for France's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Spain.

The right-back will replace the injured Mathieu Debuchy in the Les Bleus squad for their Group I games.

"It freaked me out a bit," he told Ligue1.com. "I'm not saying that I thought I would never be called up again, but I was getting that way.

"I had become used to saying 'no' when someone asked me if I was going to be called up."

France will host Georgia at Stade de France on Friday and will welcome Spain to the same venue next Tuesday.
