Preview: Group D - Sweden vs. France

Group D - Sweden vs. France

Sweden take on France in Euro 2012 Group D on Tuesday, with their group-stage exit from the competition already confirmed.

The Blagult's successive defeats to Ukraine and England have left them with zero points and with no mathematical chance of making it through to the latter stages.

Their last victory against the French came in a World Cup qualifier in 1969, but they did hold Laurent Blanc and Co to a 1-1 draw in the opening match of Euro 1992.

Meanwhile, France just need a single point to be sure of a spot in the next round. However, they can be eliminated if both themselves and England lose, and a huge goal-swing allows the Three Lions to progress.

Les Bleus enter the match in particularly fine form having lost just one of their last seven competitive matches.

Sweden boss Erik Hamren has no real injury concerns ahead of the encounter with Jonas Olsson and Johan Elmander both expected to keep their spot in the team.

France, meanwhile, could be without Yohan Cabaye who is nursing a leg injury; allowing Yann M'Vila to come in for his first start of the tournament.

Gael Clichy is also expected to start ahead of Patrice Evra at left-back, while Laurent Koscielny could also be in line to start in central defence.
