Feyenoord come back from two goals down to beat SBV Excelsior

Feyenoord recover to beat Excelsior

Feyenoord recovered from falling two goals behind against 10-man SBV Excelsior to secure a thrilling 3-2 win in this afternoon's Eredivisie clash at De Kuip.

The visitors took the lead after just seven minutes when Tom van Weert bundled the ball past Kenneth Vermeer from close range.

Feyenoord were stunned again on the half-hour mark as the 24-year-old collected Jordan Botaka's pass before bearing down on goal and firing home.

However, Excelsior's game began unravelling four minutes after the restart when Jurgen Mattheij was sent off for a bad foul in the box, which prompted the referee to award the hosts a penalty.

Colin Kazim-Richards stepped up and duly slotted past Alessandro Damen to give his side hope of mounting a comeback.

In the 77th minute, Feyenoord drew level when Kazim-Richards flicked on a Miquel Nelom cross towards Jens Toornstra, who tucked home from close range.

And just two minutes later, Excelsior conceded again as Lex Immers smashed a header into the far corner of the net to give the Rotterdam side all three points.
