Newport County goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley joins Mansfield Town

Newport County goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley, a former Chelsea trainee, joins League Two rivals Mansfield Town on loan for the rest of the season.

Newport County goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley has joined League Two rivals Mansfield Town on loan for the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old, who spent his formative years at Chelsea, is third choice at the Welsh outfit behind Joe Day and Jamie Stephens.

Stags manager Adam Murray told The Nottingham Post: "We feel that by bringing in Lenny, he will add much-needed experience, organisation and communication to our team.

"Lenny's experience will also help develop Sascha [Studer] and it's a position in which we've lacked experience since the loss of Alan Marriott."

Pidgeley, who helped Newport to promotion from the Conference in 2013, signed from Exeter City in 2012.
