Everton boss Roberto Martinez: 'Romelu Lukaku worth £55m now'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez warns Romelu Lukaku's suitors that nothing less than £55m will prise the Belgian hitman from Goodison Park.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has told Romelu Lukaku's suitors to cough up a minimum of £55m if they want to sign the Belgian hitman.

The 22-year-old struck his seventh Premier League goal of the season in Saturday's 1-1 draw at West Ham United for what was his 22nd of the year so far.

The former Chelsea starlet has reportedly courted interest from Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks, but the Toffees boss warned that he is only adding to his value after every game.

Asked about his reported £45m price tag, Martinez told reporters: "After today, £55m! The real problem is when the chairman or owner of the club says we need to cash in on two or three players. That is not the situation at Everton.

"He wants to break records. He had in his eye Tony Cottee in 1993 being the last player to score 20 goals in a calendar year. He achieved that and he scored 21 and keeps going. He wants to improve and be the best in the world."

He joined the Merseyside outfit for £30m from Chelsea in 2014, having impressed on a season-long loan.
