Koeman: 'Everton closing in on Sigurdsson'

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has claimed that his club "are close" to bringing Swansea City's Gylfi Sigurdsson to Goodison Park.

Sigurdsson has been strongly linked with a move to Everton since the start of last month, although it is thought that the Toffees are not prepared to meet Swansea's £50m valuation of the Iceland international.

Swans boss Paul Clement claimed that "nothing has changed" when questioned on the latest developments earlier this weekend, but Koeman has provided a positive update for Everton supporters.

"Everybody knows we are looking for three more players - a left centre-back, a left full-back, a player who can play out of both positions, a winger and a striker and that's the picture, what the best is for our team and we will see what we can do," Koeman told Sky Sports News.

"We are close [on Sigurdsson], we have to wait. But still, the deal is not done."

Sigurdsson, 27, scored nine times and registered 13 assists for Swansea in the Premier League last season.
