Everton 'lining up Bayer Leverkusen's Wendell as Leighton Baines replacement'

Everton have reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen's Wendell as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines.

The Blues are willing to shell out £32m for the Brazilian, a club-record fee for a defender, according to the Daily Mail.

Everton boss Marco Silva is thought to be in the market for a left-back this summer, with Baines having turned 33 and played only 22 times in the Premier League last term.

Capped for Brazil at Under-21 and Under-23 level, Wendell made 30 appearances for Leverkusen last season, scoring three times and providing as many assists.

Previous reports suggest that the Toffees are also looking at Hertha Berlin's Marvin Plattenhardt.
