Arsenal reluctant to trigger £23m release clause for Fellaini

Everton, Arsenal in Fellaini standoff?

Arsene Wenger is reluctant to trigger Marouane Fellaini's £23m release clause, despite the Everton midfielder wanting a move to the capital, according to a report.

Fellaini is keen to test himself in the Champions League and although Arsenal are said to be interested in the player, Everton have received no official bids for the player, reports The Mirror.

Ivan Gazidis recently said that manager Wenger "is not scared to spend money" and if Fellaini's release clause is triggered, he would become Arsenal's most expensive signing.

Manchester United and Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the 25-year-old, who has made 138 appearances for Everton since joining the club in 2008, scoring 25 goals.
