Wayne Rooney makes his first Premier League start for Everton in 13 years as they welcome Stoke City to Goodison Park this afternoon.

The former Manchester United skipper starts up front alongside fellow summer arrival Sandro Ramirez in a 3-5-2 formation.

Michael Keane also makes his competitive debut for the Toffees this afternoon following his £25m arrival from league rivals Burnley, linking up with Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams in the backline.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Morgan Schneiderlin, Idrissa Gueye and Leighton Baines are joined in the middle of the park by Davy Klaassen on his debut, while Jordan Pickford also gets his first run-out between the sticks.

There is no place in the matchday squad for wantaway midfielder Ross Barkley, who is recovering from a groin injury, and James McCarthy, out with a knee problem.

For Stoke, Mark Hughes opts for a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Saido Berahino picked to lead the line with support from Xherdan Shaqiri and Bojan Krkic.

Darren Fletcher makes his debut for the Potters following his switch from West Bromwich Albion, joining Joe Allen, Erik Pieters and Mame Biram Diouf in midfield.

Chelsea loanee Kurt Zouma appears on the right of a back three, with skipper Ryan Shawcross in the middle, Geoff Cameron on the left and Jack Butland in goal.
