Everton striker Wayne Rooney has revealed plans to go into management after retiring from football.

The former England international, who was a guest on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, added that his knowledge of the game will set him up for a possible future career after hanging up his boots.

"I would like to go into management," the forward said. "I have been involved in football my whole life. That is something I know.

"I have enjoyed tonight, and I am sure I will do a lot more work on television, but ultimately I want to go into management."

Rooney is expected to return to the pitch when the Toffees play Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
