Peter Reid urges Marouane Fellaini to show more respect to Everton

Ex-Everton midfielder Peter Reid wants Marouane Fellaini to show the club more respect after he claimed that he could leave Everton for the right team.

Former Everton star Peter Reid has warned Marouane Fellaini that he must the show the club more respect in future interviews.

Fellaini raised eyebrows with his comments while away on international duty with Belgium last week, claiming that he could leave the Toffees as early as January for the right team.

Reid told Fellaini that he should concentrate on maintaining his promising start to the season at Goodison Park.

He said: "The lad has since said he is happy at Everton but now the speculation has started and I just hope that it doesn't affect his form.

"There is always going to be speculation about good players. Fellaini has grown as a player with Everton and he knows the club have helped make him the player he is today.

"He needs to think about what he says next time and maybe show a bit more respect for the club."

David Moyes's side continue their Premier League campaign at home to Newcastle United on Monday, September 17.
