Phil Neville admits Donovan return unlikely

Phil Neville admits that a return for Landon Donovan is unlikely.

Everton captain Phil Neville admits that American forward Landon Donovan is unlikely to make a return to Goodison Park during next month's transfer window.

The USA international, who is currently contracted to LA Galaxy, made a big impression in a ten-game spell with the Toffees in 2010.

However, Neville feels that Everton will have to look elsewhere in their search for a goalscorer.

"Everyone loved Landon, we enjoyed having him here, and he used Everton running up to the World Cup to stay fit," Neville told the Liverpool Echo

"I think that was the only reason he came, or maybe he would have come the year after."

However, the skipper has backed David Moyes to freshen up the squad next month.

"I think new signings would give everyone a boost. We need a lift - I think the whole club does in a way,"

Everton face Arsenal this weekend.
