Everton's Steven Naismith wants to start against Manchester United

Naismith targets PL debut

Everton's new signing Steven Naismith has insisted that he has done enough to warrant a starting spot in the Toffees' Premier League opener against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old moved to Goodison Park from Rangers earlier this summer after deciding not to transfer his contract to the Gers' newco under chairman Charles Green.

"I am looking forward to it," the Liverpool Daily Post quotes Naismith as saying. "I have a good pre-season and all that hard work is going to be put into practise.

"Hopefully with what I have done in pre-season and what I do in training in the next few days, I can show the manager that I am capable of starting."

Everton will host the former league champions on Monday night.
